SCO Unix Release 3.2v5.0.0
This section
describes how to perform an unscheduled backup. This type of backup covers an entire
filesystem. Most Unix systems have multiple filesystems. Each filesystem should be backed
up. Each filesystem must be backed up on it’s own set of tapes.
You should have more than one series of
tapes to alternate your backups. You should also keep a manual log of when the backup was
done and on which series of tapes.
Your “daily” unattended backups
only backup your applications, they do not backup the operating system. Unscheduled
backups should be done periodically to ensure that the operating system is backed up.
